Obituary – John Peels

Mr. John Luther Peels, age 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020, at his home under the loving care and comfort of his family and Willow Brook Hospice.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Richard Stevenson will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors 4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, October 28 at the funeral home.
The family strongly requests that masks be worn, and social distancing be practiced, during all commemoration events both indoor and out.
He was born October 22, 1936, in Madisonville, Tennessee, to the late Luther and Hattie Lenderman Peels. He was retired from Ford Motor Company, Nashville Glass Plant, and a trainer of Tennessee Walking Horses for over 45 years. A veteran of the United States Army, he attended Fairlane Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a wife, Annie Mai McAnally Peels, a brother, Wayne Peels, and a sister, Larna Holcomb.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Ellen Cooley Peels; a son, Gary Peels, and his wife Lori; a daughter, Lori Beth Hollis, all of Shelbyville; step sons, Keith Richardson, and his wife Cherie, and Robert Dye, and his wife Stephanie; step daughter, Debbie Nichols, and her husband William; sister in law, Laverta Peels; grandchildren, Hannah Peels, Ashton Hollis, Haley Hollis, Jordan Hollis, Emma Richardson, Alyssa Richardson, Carley Dye, Lilly Dye, Cason Dye, Jennifer Jordan, and her husband Jackson, and Mary Beth Lamb, and her husband Josh; six great grandchildren.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
