Obituary – Hubert "Moe" Morton Lawell

Hubert Morton “Moe” Lawell, age 65, of Shelbyville, passed from this life Sunday, April 2, 2023, at his sister’s home.
A native of Bedford County Moe was born March 1, 1958, to the late Raymond and Nora K. Coop Lawell. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by: sister, Kathy Page; brother, Bobby Lawell; and nephew, John Jernigan.
Moe graduated class of 1976 from Shelbyville Central High School and worked as a Tennessee walking horse trainer, having worked with various trainers; that include, Ronald Young, Mike Civils and Bobby Hugh. He pursued his passion of horse training for most of his life until he was unable due to suffering a stroke, but even still he enjoyed to visit horse barns and continued to trail ride with friends on the weekends. He had also worked with Viam Manufacturing in Manchester, TN for five years.
He is survived by: sisters, Rhea Hiett, Debbie (Pete) Drewek both of Shelbyville and Dale (Ty) Cobb all of Winchester; nieces, Megan, Katie, Nicole, Kirsten and Jordan; nephews, Ryan, Jonathan, Josh, Dacota and Trevor; also great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Ryan Lawell and Marty Ray Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held prior to funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the funeral home.
Doak-Howell Funeral Home is serving the family.
