Obituary – Frank Turner McMeen, Sr.

Frank Turner McMeen, Sr., age 90, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with John Vaughan, Andrew Phillips, and Frank Turner McMeen, Jr. officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest next to his wife in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on November 23, 1933, in Columbia, Tennessee, Frank was the son of the late John Nolan and Bertha Adell Taylor McMeen. He graduated from Columbia Central High School and married Ava Nell Lovell McMeen on October 22, 1954. Together, they raised two children. Frank was a renowned world champion Walking Horse trainer and found joy in farming and traveling out West with his wife. He cherished time with his family, especially the annual Fourth of July family reunions at his farm. He was a devoted member of Graymere Church of Christ.
He is survived by his sons, Frank Turner McMeen, Jr., Michael Travis (Jacquelyn) McMeen, brother, Taylor (Judy) Clinton, grandchildren, Jaclyn (Brian) Huckaby, John (Britny) McMeen, Toni Anne (Seth) Dunn, Hannah Grace McMeen, ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John McMeen, Raymond McMeen, Donald McMeen, and sisters, Janie Lamb, Della Jones, and Minnie Ruth Andrews.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Howard Adkinson, Sammy Brooks, John McMeen, John Oakes, Bobby Ellis, and Nick “Little Bit” Potter.
Honorary pallbearers will include the Elders at Graymere Church of Christ, Brian Huckaby, Sam Ellis, Zakk Potter, Braden Potter, and Jimmy Potter.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Hospice Compassus for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Ava & Frank Endowment at Columbia Academy, 1101 W 7th Street, Columbia, TN 38401, the McMeen Endowment at Freed-Hardeman University, 158 E Main St, Henderson, TN 38340, or the McMeen Endowment Community Foundation of West Tennessee, 74 Directors Row, Jackson, TN 38305.
