Obituary – Beverly McNeill

Mrs. Beverly Marie McNeill, age 94 of Andalusia died on February 28, 2002 at her residence, surrounded by her family. Mrs. McNeill was born on April 9, 1925 to Clayton and Cleo Ammons Crawford. She was married to Mr. Lawrence McNeill for 66 years until his death in 2010. Together she and her husband had two children, Shirley McNeill and Danny McNeill who preceded both of his parents in death. Mrs. McNeill moved to Florala from Hartford, Ala in the mid 1940’s and started McNeill Concrete. Three years later they moved to Andalusia and opened another concrete plant. In 1952 they received the Wilbert Burial Vault franchise out of Chicago, Ill and today the McNeill family still own and operate the business. In addition to her hard work ethic, Mrs. McNeill was very active in the Pilot Club for many years, and on two occasions she was voted the Pilot International Foundation Sweetheart (PIF). Mrs. McNeill, along with her husband also bred and raised Tennessee Walking Horses. They joined the association in 1977, and she was one of its oldest members. Together, Mrs. McNeill and her husband had several world champion Walking Horses. Mrs. McNeill always stayed active in the family business until her health forced her to retire a few years back.
Graveside services for Mrs. McNeill will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 2 pm from the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery. Pastor John Hunt will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Stewart, Johnny Stewart, Tony Moose, Toby Freeman, Kenneth Moore and Bobby Surlin.
In addition to her daughter Shirley McNeill, Mrs. McNeill is survived by three grandchildren; Amanda Moore (Kenneth), Chris McNeill, and Lance McNeill, all of Andalusia; four great grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 5:30 – 8 PM on Thursday at Foreman Funeral Home.
