Last year, the “Pick Your Partner” classes proved to be one of the most fun and popular ways to raise money for the industry’s legal fund. Riders, trainers, and fans alike rallied together, bringing energy, laughter, and strong financial support to the cause.
This year, the North Carolina Championship Walking Horse Show is keeping that spirit alive. Although the association was forced to cancel its 2024 event due to Hurricane Helene, they were determined to find a way for their show and their supporters to continue backing the legal fund, which still needs everyone’s help.
On Saturday night at the 54th Annual North Carolina Championship Walking Horse Show, the “Pick Your Partner” classes return to the spotlight. The Pleasure division will be Class 83, and the Performance division will be Class 86. Teams can include youth, amateurs, and trainers in any combination. One partner rides the first way of the class and the other rides the second way.
Entries close at Noon on Saturday, but teams are encouraged to sign up early so they can start fundraising. Much like a walk-a-thon, teams will solicit donations through their fundraising pages, with every dollar going directly to the Foundation for the Advancement & Support of the Tennessee Walking Show Horse (FAST) and earmarked for the industry’s legal fund.
A special “Fan Favorite” award will go to the team that raises the most money by the end of the class. Fans can show their support by donating to their favorite riders here, where team fundraising pages will be posted once entries are confirmed.
The North Carolina Walking Horse Association encourages everyone to join in the fun, cheer on their favorite teams, and, most importantly, help strengthen the legal defense that protects the future of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry.
